Looking out over Golden, CO from the trail going up Lookout Moutain, you can see just an absolutely stunning view of the mountains. Way off into the distance on the right side of the photo, you can see the faint skyline of Denver. In the middle of the shot, you can see North Table mountain, South Table, and Castle Rock (the squarish looking piece sticking out of the top of the mountain).
I was told that at one point, Nike wanted to build it's world headquarters on the top of the mountain near Castle Rock but eventually squashed the idea. I also learned that millions of years ago, volcanic eruptions in the Colorado area occurred which helped create the landscape we see today in this photo.
