I decided to experiment with a black light today. Recently my daughter has been pushing me to make a glowing playdo-like mud made from potatoes and tonic water. The tonic water contains something called "quinines" which glow bluish color in a black light. Obviously, I had to try a glowing drop!
Before tossing out a bouquet of dead Easter flowers, I decided to a few last shots. As I was doing some post-processing, I start playing with the colors in the drop (just playing around really) and realized it would be great if I could make it a cinemagraph out of something that wasn't original a video.
So, I set up a screen recording in Quicktime and then set up a radial filter over the drop. Then I dragged the Color picker from the left to the right while recording. Afterwards I saved out the video to Cinemagraph Pro and looped it, did some quick trimming, etc.
The result turned out not too bad...though the uploading trimmed down the quality of it something horrible. But if you want to see the result, you can find it here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/scott_horvath/13906593810/
